As she watched the pair of them, for the first time in her life Tomoyo felt that she was on the outside looking in.
When she’d sent him away, she’d imagined many possible outcomes, scenarios ranging from him returning the next day to never coming back at all..
She had expected anger or for his silence. On her more optimistic days, she had hoped that if when he came back, he would understand why she’d done it.
She hadn’t expected him to comeback a stranger looking like her best friend. Both more tired and worn but also more complete and centered, clinging desperately to the magician as he tried to keep from bleeding out all over the floor. The man he was wrapped around was the sole focus of his attention. She doubted Kurogane even seen her.
Tomoyo smiled wistfully. Kurogane would never be just hers again. As she paused for a moment to watch them together she decided it was worth it.
